These tables tell you which chart within the Canadian Current Atlas to use for each hour of each day of the year. In principle you can use the Atlas without these, but the very fact that they have been around for continuous use for more than 20 years is testimony to their value. They pay for themselves on your first outing.... or more specifically, during the planning of this outing as that is where the Canadian Atlas is so valuable. See Canadian Current Atlas.

Below is a sample of one page. On Sunday, Oct 5, 2008 at 1600 local time, turn to chart No. 41. At 1700 the right chart is No. 16, which shows the issues solved by this publication. Namely the next page in sequence might not be the best next chart to view, depending on the state of the tide cycle, which is accommodated in this publication with a tested algorithm developed by the author.

Randy Washburne is a renown Pacific Northwest kayaker and author of several popular books on kayaking. He is also the one who wrote the code for the Starpath Radar Trainer software program.

Note: There is a new online alternative from Emanuel Borsboom. His tables tell you which page to turn to for each hour of the year. It makes the use of the Atlas much faster and more precise as it relies on tested algorithms to be sure you are in the right cycle. There are some inconsistencies in the method of the Atlas itself, and indeed some conflicts between the Atlas method and the Borsboom selections, but these will generally be cases where the data are not different. You can download pdfs for annual indexes up to 2020.
